OBERHEIM DMX DIGITAL DRUM MACHINE 20-6-1994 --------------------------------- This disk contains 12 samples - bass drum - ride cymbal - snare drum - tom - open hi-hat - tambourine - closed hi-hat - rimshot - accentuated hi-hat - shaker - crash cymbal - claps The DMX's sound buttons are organized in 3 rows vertically by 8 horizontally. Each of the 8 rows corresponds to a sound channel and an individual output and level control, and many of the samples are repeated, because of different level settings; 1) bass drum- 3 levels 2) snare drum- 3 levels 3) open/closed/accentuated hi-hat 4) toms 1,2 and 3 5) toms 4,5 and 6 6) ride cymbal (2 levels), crash cymbal 7) tambourine (2 levels), rimshot 8) shaker (2 levels), claps In addition to the common level control for each channel, the sounds can also be tuned. This is common for all 3 sounds of each channel, i.e. if you want to tune the shaker, the claps will also be tuned equally. As for the toms, they are all of the same sample, and the 3 toms in each channel are sligtly tuned to get hi, mid and lo toms. The two tom channels are identical except for being panned to the left and right respectively when used with the stereo outputs. They will usually be tuned from each other, so you would end up with 6 toms, all slightly differently tuned, going from left to right. Hallvard Tangeraas, Oslo, Norway
