Regionalbahn Bern-Solothurn RBS is a company that runs buses and also a narrow gauge network of 1000 mm gauge close to the capital city
Bern and between Bern and Solothurn. RBS was founded as a fusion product of Vereinigten Bern-Worb-Bahnen (VBW) and the
Solothurn–Zollikofen–Bern-Bahn (SZB) in 1984. RBS operates three S-Bahn lines close to Bern (S7 Bern-Worb Dorf, S8 Bern-Bätterkinden,
S9 Bern-Unterzollikofen) as well as a longer so called Regionalexpress or RE service between the cities Bern and Solothurn. All these
metre gauge lines operate with 1250 V DC. In addition to these RBS also owns the track and part of the rolling stock running the Bern tram
line no.6, formerly tram G, to Worb Dorf. That one runs with 600 V DC and uses currently partly RBS' trams and partly specially fitted
Siemens Combino trams of Bernmobil, the company that operates the trams of Bern city.
This train is a Be 4/12 "Seconda". They were built out of an earlier series from the years 1991-93 which was called "La Prima". These
La Prima trains were quite extensively modified 2010 to 2013 and among other changes they got a new middle coach
and a thick rubber bumper band at their fronts.
