I just downloaded a game from the FTP site (ftp.gmd.de) today -- it was
called SOS.ZIP ("Son of Stagefright") and apparantly was the winner of
the 3rd-annual AGT game-writing contest. A file was included with the
package about this particular contest, which was held in 1989. It
listed the 10 winners, which people could write away for to get the
source on 2 disks (I don't know if the address is still valid today).
A lot of the "winners" (like "House of the O's") looked really interesting,
but they aren't at this FTP site. I assume, therefore, that there is
a whole *lot* of games (written in AGT alone) that are out there, but
aren't at this FTP site. Is there anywhere else in the Internet
"system" where one might find more of these games? Also, is this
contest still being held? If so, is there a list of the winners of
each of the contests? I looked through the file-listing at the
interactive fiction archive, but couldn't find any info there.
