Always a good thing.

As I said, I would suggest anyone working on a project to give
careful consideration to their licensing scheme. This does not mean
slapping on the license that "everyone else" is using, however.

I obviously can't speak to private attacks, but I don't recall anyone
targetting you, personally. I know I attacked your ideas, and
questioned your motivation and background, certainly, but I think
those are quite fair, and even productive, in a technical discussion.

There will always be opposition whenever anybody comes through
saying, "you should all do things this way." I would rather
encourage people who believe in an idea to lead by example, rather
than dictation.

Just like in good literature, don't *tell* me the GPL (or anything
remotely similar) works for IF; *show* me. You make the idea work,
and people will flock to your banner. You and others have been
arguing that, since GPL works for some projects, all programmers
should use it, and any opinion to the contrary is based on
brainwashing from the evil corporations.

If you didn't think I (or anyone else) was specific enough, then I
apologize (for my part, at least).

I think I'm offended by the use of the word "useful," though I
honestly can't quite put my finger on why.
