The Desktop Pictures control panel in MacOS 8 has the hidden ability to
select a picture at random from a folder of pictures. Unfortunately,
the picture selection only occurs at startup; there's no built-in way to
specify a change interval. Change Desktop Picture gives you this
capability.

Subject: [*] DeskPictRotater v1.0 -- rotates desktop pictures under MacOS 8

This AppleScript works with the Desktop Pictures feature of MacOS 8
to randomly, periodically change the desktop picture during a session.

System requirements: MacOS 8, AppleScript.

Cool Features

* The script, as shipped, waits 15 minutes before setting a
new picture. It uses an idle handler, as opposed to an
increment loop or other similar method, so it should
have minimal impact on CPU usage.

* The script remembers the last three pictures set, and
tries to avoid reusing recently set pictures.

* You can set a new folder of pictures by dragging it onto
	the script.

* It should gracefully handle having the picture folder
	disappear during a run.

* To maximize performance, the script leaves the Desktop
Pictures control panel active, but will hide it after
	setting the picture.

This program may be included on the Info-Mac CD-ROM.

Thank you!

Subject: [*] GLMStat 3.1.0

GLMStat is a Macintosh-based statistical program for analysing
generalised linear models. It provides a macintosh interface but
otherwise operates in a similar fashion to GLIM but with less features
(most of which you probably won't miss). Features of GLMStat are

 - spreadsheet style data entry
 - Normal, Poisson, Binomial and Gamma models with appropriate links and
specification of convergence and aliasing parameters
 - Scatter and Residual plots
 - Matrix scatterplots
 - Box and Whisker plots
 - Frequency distribution histograms
 - Descriptive statistics.
 - Output of deviance, parameter estimates, residuals and parameter
 correlations
 - Saving of data files complete with all model specifications.
 - printing of data, graph and results.
 - Online Help (under the apple menu) and a brief User Manual.
 - includes example data files for most examples in two of the texts.
 - Installer for PowerPC, 68K or FAT binary versions
 - Individual licences available for $US20. Site licences $US150. World
site licence $US450. Payment in $US through Kagi Shareware.
 - Upgrades currently free. (New licences after June 1998 will not be
 entitled to free major upgrades)

Unregistered copies are fully functional but will revert to demo mode
(Save and Save As disabled) at the end of January 1998.

This release
 - For scatterplots Lowess curves and Jittering of points.
 - Descriptive statistics.
 - if importing and extra columns then a warning is given instead of aborting
 - about box allows mail and web interface using Internet Config
 - grayscale palette
 - added residuals squared to predefined columns
 - fixed bug which could (very rarely) cause failure of fitting algorithm
when a weight or offset was used

TITLE: Halloween Jack-o-lantern and Pumpkin desktop textures

DESCRIPTION:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

This file is a collection of halloween desktop textures/patterns. They are
clean, seemless, and not crappy kiddy pictures. These halloween graphics vary
in size, color, and visual effects. The pumkins and jack-o-lanterns were made
in Strata StudioPro and Adobe Photoshop was used for composition and effects.
In other words they are cool and not irritating to the eye. Try 'em you'll
like 'em.
To utilize the file you will have to have the application "Desktop Textures",
this can be downloaded from the AOL software archives and www.download.com.
Then one will use the "Texture Installer" program to set the selected
pattern.

Subject: [*] QuickNote 1.2

File name......: QuickNote 1.2
Date of release: 10/24/97

Have you ever needed to jot down a note quickly and be able to easily
find it later? Ever wanted to copy a selection of text while web
browsing for later reading without copying and pasting between
applications or saving the text to a file? QuickNote can do these things
and more at the touch of a key (which will instantly bring up a text
editor) without having to leave the application you are in!

Of course, you'll be able to hit another key at any time that will bring
up a list of all your notes, which you can edit, delete, search, replace,
print and move from category to category (create as many categories as
you like) with ease! QuickNote lets you do all standard text editing
including changing fonts, styles, sizes, color, etc. Another extremely
handy feature allows you to select text from any note and have QuickNote
automatically paste the text directly into any text document you are
working on.

New features added in version 1.1:
Color Menu, support for Internet config & ICeTEe, smart quotes, fixed
Kaleidoscope bug with scroll bar, replace all, can now drag over menu
titles, several bug fixes and added many new PlugIns!

New features added in version 1.11:
Added ability to set printing margins, added new plugins (Add CRs & Email
Reply), several Bug fixes (fixed conflict with TypeIt4Me, fixed problem
where some characters were dropped while typing in certain applications,
fixed alias problem).

New features added in version 1.2:
Added templates, added popup menu for template insertion into any
editable text, added text form ability (option-tab from field to field
within text if fields are within [] brackets), PlugIns now use folder
hierarchy (for different PlugIn categories), added several new plugins,
several Bug fixes (find next, zeros in dates bugs fixed).
System Requirements.

Subject: [*] Startup Lock 2.0d1r10

Startup Lock 2.0 is a small utility designed to prevent access to MacOS
computers. With Startup Lock 2.0 installed, the user will be asked for a
password at Startup. If the correct password is entered, then access is
allowed to the computer. If an incorrect passwored is entered, the
computer is shut down.

Users of versions before 2.0d1r10 should upgrade to this version!

New to Version 2.0:

* Totally rewritten using CrossBasic d1r22!
* Interface redesigned. Much easier to use now!
* Much faster than before!
* No longer based on AppleScript!
* Better protection!

Subject: [*] StoryProject 2.0.1 68K [Development software for fiction writer

StoryProject 2.0.1 is a new type of story outliner, with two unique features
that creative writers will appreciate: threading and spotlighting. Threading
makes a complex plot easier to develop, and spotlighting does the same for
character development. Because the two are integrated, whatever you do in
StoryProject, you are always progressing your story.

Requires System 7 or greater and at least 1MB free RAM. Works on any Macintosh.
A PowerPC version is also available.

NOTE TO USERS OF VERSION 2.0: version 2.0.1 features two important bug fixes
and users of previous versions should upgrade.

Subject: [*] StoryProject 2.0.1 PPC [Development software for fiction writer

StoryProject 2.0.1 is a new type of story outliner, with two unique features
that creative writers will appreciate: threading and spotlighting. Threading
makes a complex plot easier to develop, and spotlighting does the same for
character development. Because the two are integrated, whatever you do in
StoryProject, you are always progressing your story.

Requires System 7 or greater and at least 2MB free RAM. Works on any
PowerMacintosh. A 68K version is also available.

NOTE TO USERS OF VERSION 2.0: version 2.0.1 features two important bug fixes
and users of previous versions should upgrade.
