The List of cities and the System II Longitude of the Great Red Spot
are all stored in the " location.dat
" file.
The " location.dat " file is a plain text file which can be edited using a suitable text editor (eg NOTEPAD).
The top line of
this file is the System II Longitude of the Great Red Spot.
The rest of the file is the list of cities which are displayed in
the "drop-down" menu. If you know your own home
coordinates, you can customise it so that your home location
always appears at the top of the list. Each line must be in the
following format:
Town and Region [tab] Country [tab] Latitude [tab] Longitude [tab] Timezone
Where Latitude is in decimal
degrees from -90 to 90 (negative for Southern hemisphere)
Longitude is in decimal degrees from 0 to 360 (increasing as you
go West)
Timezone is the hour difference from Greenwich Mean Time (negative
values as you go West).
jupiter.gif This file is a photograph of Jupiter taken by CPAC club-member,
Ted Rodway. This file has been resized to an image
measuring 60 pixels across and 56 pixels down (the correct aspect
ratio of the "flattened" Jupiter). It is also croped so
that Jupiter "touches" the edge of the image. The Castle Point Astronomy Club is proud of the fact that EVERYTHING in
the application was created from within the Club. I could have
easily used a high definition picture of Jupiter from NASA but I
chose not to in order to keep it completey amateur with all
effort created from within our Club. You may replace this image
with your own but please insure that it conforms to the above
guidelines. Failure to do so will result in the application
giving false representations of transits etc.
