Here you see an actual snapshpot of the notorious "CVS tree" of the 
ISDN development at ftp.franken.de

Caution:
This is a snapshot. There is no warranty that this version is perfect,
stable, or even compilable.
For those of you who are looking for a stable version should have a look
at ftp://ftp.franken.de/pub/isdn4linux. Here you will find the latest
release.

Versions: There are packages for the version 2.0 and 2.1 (hacker kernel).
(At the moment there isn't a isdn4k-utils package for the 2.0 kernel yet; 
please use 2.1 instead.)

The packages: The ISDN development is split in two packages:
        - isdn4k-utils: everything that is needed besides the
          hardware driver(s). See: isdn4k-utils/README

        -isdn: The kernel sources
        Just unpack this directory anywhere; the kernel sources themselves
        should reside under /usr/src/linux. The command
        'cd isdn; ./std2kern -d' updates the sources under /usr/src/linux.

There are two directories v2.0 and v2.1 a version. Herein there are
directories for each package. For convenience there exists  an link in the
version directory pointing to the brand-new version of the respective package.
All versions and patches may be found in the package directory.

There is one new version a day. The version number is the date in GMT.
A corresponding link to the actual version is supplied additionally, e.g.,
isdn.tar.gz -> isdn/isdn-9710131634.tar.gz

This classifies the version from Oktober 13th in 1997 at 18:34.

Moreover patch files are created that have to be applied in the
corresponding directory.
E.g.:

        cd /where/ever/isdn
        zcat /tmp/isdn-9710131634-9710141630.patch.gz | patch -p1

You have to apply _all_ patches from the last version. In case of doubt just
get the current version.

In diesem Verzeichnis befindet sich ein jeweils aktueller
Snapshot von dem beruechtigten "CVS-Tree" der ISDN4LINUX-Entwicklung 
von ftp.franken.de.

ACHTUNG: es handelt sich um einen "Snapshot". Es besteht keine
Garantie, dass diese Version in sich passt, compilierbar ist oder
sogar funktioniert. 
Wer eine stabile Version sucht, sollte die offizielle Distribution 
von ftp://ftp.franken.de/pub/isdn4linux benutzen!

Versionen: die Pakete gibt es jeweils fuer die Kernelversionen 2.0 und 
2.1 (Hackerkernel).
(Momentan gibt es (noch) keine eigenes Paket der isdn4k-utils fuer den
2.0er Kernel, dafuer also das 2.1er Paket nehmen.)


Die Pakete: die Entwicklung gliedert sich in zwei Pakete:

        - isdn4k-utils: alles was man neben dem Hardwaretreiber(n) braucht.
          Siehe: isdn4k-utils/README

        - isdn: die Kernelquellen
          Dieses Verzeichnis "irgendwo" auspacken; die Kernelquellen sollten
          unter /usr/src/linux liegen. Dann mit dem Kommando
          'cd isdn; ./std2kern -d' die Kernelsourcen (unter /usr/src/linux) updaten.


Je Version gibt es ein Directory v2.0 und v2.1. Darin widerum ein Directory
pro Paket. Zum besseren Finden gibt es in Versionsverzeichnis ein 
Link auf die tagesaktuelle Version des jeweiligen Paketes. Im 
Paketverzeichniss gibt es alle Versionen und die Patches.

Es wird taeglich eine neue Version erstellt mit Datum/Zeit (GMT) als 
Versionsnummer und ein entsprechender Link darauf gesetzt, z.B.:
        isdn.tar.gz -> isdn/isdn-9710131634.tar.gz
ist die Version vom 13. Oktober 1997, 18:34.

Zusaetzlich werden Patchfiles erstellt, die im Verzeichnis anzuwenden sind,
z.B:
        cd /wo/auch/immer/isdn
        zcat /tmp/isdn-9710131634-9710141630.patch.gz | patch -p1

Es sind _alle_ Patches ab der letzten Version anzuwenden, im
Zweifelsfall die aktuelle Version holen.
