The latest version of Doug Scott's MiXViews for Linux is now freely
available from the MiXViews Home Page at:

     http://www.ccmrc.ucsb.edu/~doug/htmls/MiXViews.html

MiXViews is a graphic soundfile recorder, player, converter, editor and
analysis/resynthesis engine. It's also one of the main reasons I set up
a Linux system...

Greetings to all of you on my revised and expanded mailing list for MiXViews.
As always, if you wish to be removed, please let me know.

This is to announce to all Linux users that at long last a Linux ELF binary of
the newest version of MiXViews, version 1.10 Patch Level 02, is now available
via ftp from ftp.create.ucsb.edu in
pub/MixViews/binaries/mxv-LATEST-LINUX.tar.gz. You will find this one quite
an improvement over the old 1.06 version! You will need some additional
shared libraries on your machine. Most importantantly, you will need the
shared InterViews library (X toolkit). You can get a decent copy from:
ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/X11/xapps/iv-3.1-g++2.7.2.tar.gz

Here is the full listing of shared libraries used. Your version numbers may
vary, and most of these should be on your systems already:

	libIV.so => /usr/lib/interviews/lib/libIV.so
	libXext.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6.0
	libm.so.5 => /lib/libm.so.5.0.6
	libg++.so.27 => /usr/lib/libg++.so.27.1.4
	libstdc++.so.27 => /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.27.1.4
	libc.so.5 => /lib/libc.so.5.3.12
	libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/elf/libX11.so.6.0

If you have problems with the libg++ shared library, I will find a source for
it and post it.

For those of you on m68k NeXTs and SGI machines, please note that version 1.10
is available as binaries for you as well, as they have been since last August.

The SPARC version of the binary will be available as soon as I find a machine
to recompile it on.

Sincerely,

---
